clean tape

Hi,


We are in Netbackup 6.5.5. I want to setup the clean tape in the netbackup. I put the tapes in but when i try to clen manually it says that


# tpclean -C HP.ULTRIUM3-SCSI.000
No cleaning tape is defined in the device's robot or 0 cleanings remaining
# pwd
/



I have found out that my Media type is HCART3 . I need to change it in HCART3_CLN. Can anyone tell me how i can change the media type in GUI. i trries to find out the option but dont see it.

/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmchange  -new_mt HC3_CLN  -m <mediaID>

that's the easiest way

via GUI, you could set up barcode rule for cleaning tapes (xxxCLN = HC3_CLN), delete the volume then reinventory

Extract from Commands manual for vmchange:

Valid media types for NetBackup Enterprise Server follow:
4mm, 8mm, 8mm2, 8mm3, dlt, dlt2, dlt3, dtf, hcart, hcart2, hcart3,
odiskwm, odiskwo, qcart, 4mm_clean, 8mm_clean, 8mm2_clean,
8mm3_clean, dlt_clean, dlt2_clean, dlt3_clean, dtf_clean, hcart_clean,
hcart2_clean, hcart3_clean

OK, try hcart3_clean (all lowercase)

in the GUI it's HC3_CLN (go figure)

Does the cleaning tape have the proper barcode label attached ?. Normal Netbackup does't mix up data and cleaning tapes.

Hi ,

Can anyone help me in changing the HCART3_CLEAN tape to HCART_CLEAN tape .i tried with the Vmchange command but that does not work .

Check your media type. From the man pages (***EDIT*** & even from the earlier posts in this discussion!):

-mt media_type

          Specifies the media type of the volume to change.
