netbackup master server not connect with claint as os is solaris 10 with NBU 6.5.5

I’m actually having two issues with NetBackup:

The first is that one of my servers is not backing up properly. All the others are working fine, and this one was working until a few days ago, so I’m not sure what’s going on.

The second issue is that since Monday I am getting Activity Monitor error messages in the NetBackup Java GUI almost constantly. They say “The following error occurred while trying to refresh the daemon and process data. This may be a temporary situation. You may want to turn off the auto refresh option on this data temporarily. Job data is still being refreshed. Connected to server mbcnb1 failed due to error: Cannot connect to the NB-Java authentication services via VNETD on mbcnb1 port 13724. Check the log file for more details”.

And actually as I’m writing this I can’t connect to the Unix master server at all, it’s timing out. How do you reset one of those boxes? Is there a power switch on it or do we have to pull the power cord?

The server is responding again. I’m not sure what happened there. But let me give you the errors I’m seeing with the server that’s not backing up:

SOLUTION/WORKAROUND:

During a backup, the NetBackup client agent may not be able to send keepalives to the media server if the read of client data is taking a long time to complete one buffer of data. When this occurs, the media server may timeout after the time specified in the media server's host properties > media server> Timeouts > CLIENT_READ_TIMEOUT configuration. (300 seconds by default).

Increase the Client Read Timeout to 1800 seconds. Some clients with very large filesystems / active filesystems / lots of small files may need a value of 3600, 7200, 10800 or higher.
