Did it work before using that drive?

Have you tried downing that drive and using another drive (assuming you have more than 1) to rule out a potential hardware issue?

It looks like we will need more information from the NAS device. The error came from "ndmpagent" so you might find information in the ndmpagent log. Check hardware and OS logs for the NAS system as well.

Hi all thanks for responces but we have a doubt:

hitachi mod3080-G2 OS11 in the hcl list was supported like hnas but not specified deduplica via ndmp

Does it supported this NAS STORAGE???,because with old nas-netapp, the policy worked withoout error...

Thanks

Rick

Compatibility is something that should have been checked before purchase was made.

The HNAS is listed in NBU HCL http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76495 but you need to check Hitachi compatibility list for the device that you are backing up to.
By the sounds of it, it seems to be some sort of dedupe appliance that is presented in VTL mode to the HNAS?

Found this technote http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH55447 which is for an EMC system but the error is the same.

If you can get Hitachi to verify the tape setup on the HNAS, they have a lot settings on their ports at least they do on their disk systems like HUS-VM

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue

Hi Marianne,

No VTL, host is HNAS , storage unit is HNAS ...

Thanks

Are you saying that the backup source (NDMP filer/ HNAS) and destination (backup device) is the same HNAS device?

We see in job details that the backup is written to a tape device:

NDMP: FC error 1 (device /dev/mt_d9l0, operation mover write).

So, how is this tape device related to the HNAS?
If /dev/mt_d9l0 is NOT a tape device, what exactly is this?

Please help us to understand....

Hi Marianne sorry for misunderstanding,  this is nas path for device ultrium 5 (STK8500).

best regards

Rick

So, you are backing up to normal tape. No dedupe device.

Back to my question above - have you checked HDS compatibility Guide to see if the LTO tape drives in the STK library are supported?

If compatibility has been confirmed, follow Michael's advice:

If you can get Hitachi to verify the tape setup on the HNAS, they have a lot settings on their ports at least they do on their disk systems like HUS-VM.
