We are using NBU and manual procedures to perform backups. The tape device /dev/nst0 is setup to allow rw access at boot for the manual stuff (run by a user) but when Netbackup starts it seems to reset it
Code:<notice>start services (netbackup)NetBackup Database Server started.NetBackup Notification Service started.<notice>checkproc: /opt/kde3/bin/kdm 10520NetBackup Enterprise Media Manager started.status = 0NetBackup Resource Broker started.Rebuilding device nodes.Media Manager daemons started.
is what appears in boot.msg. The key seems to be "Rebuilding device nodes", which is issued after this:
Code: echo "Rebuilding device nodes." $MAKE_SCSI_DEV
in the startup script.
My question is: is there any way to influence $MAKE_SCSI_DEV (a.k.a. /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/make_scsi_dev) to set or control device permissions?
There is also a hint that Netbackup may be resetting this regularly (to 660), although I haven't confirmed it.
thanks in advance
