Have you actualy had a look at the URL's that I've posted? I believe it explains the whole process in detail.

The default labels of A000... are fine, but you must remember to also put a paper-label on the tape reflecting the media-id.

If you insert a tape that was previously used for backups into the drive, the internal label (media-id) will show up in Device Monitor.

It makes life a lot easier if you manually number your tapes (put external labels on), add them in the Media GUI, and then insert them one-by-one in the drive and manually label them to match the external label.

You can do this for tapes that do not contain any valid backups.

Have a look at other posts regarding standalone tape drives:

Single Standalone tape drive, no robot? Or single tape drive in robot?

Can OS see tape tape drive? Which OS?

Scratch pool is not mandatory. It makes life easier when more than one pool is used.

Do NOT create Monday, Tuesday, tapes - let NBU do media management. If you try to micro-manage media, you will run into endless frustrations with status 96 because you think a tape should be used and NBU cannot find any usable media. Rather read up on how NBU selects/allocates media and ensure you have enough media to satisfy retention period. (A tape called Monday with a retention period of 7 days will not be available next Monday - it will expire 7 days after date/time of being assigned, but image cleanup only takes place every 12 hours, making your tape available on Tuesday...)

Barcodes on media is only useful if you have a robot with a tape reader.
