Check the below mentioned TN which will help you resolving the errors.

Can you confirm the hostname-to-IP_Address and vise versa resolution of the NDMP host from NBU master.

I'd also suggest to enter the host file entries on both NBU master and NDMP host.

Also I can see the failing path as /data, is this your volume on the NDMP host?? If yes, can you enter the path as /vol/data andthen check the status of the backup ??

Also one more thing...

If you have multiple IP addresses on your NDMP host then you will need to specify the preferred path for the NDMP backup in the file named :

/usr/openv/netbackup/db/config/ndmp.cfg

In this file you put either the IP or the DNS name of the preferred interface:
NDMP_DATA_CONNECTION_HOST_NAME=<system name or IP>

Ok. This means the communication issue is resolved.

Enter the path as /vol/data and check the backup state.

Wchi NAS device you have?? NetApp, EMC.

One more thing,

the selection list you enter for NDMP policy that must be from the perspective of the NDMP device.

The NetApp will take a snapshot when the NetBackup job is initiated so if your volume is at 100% the snapshot won't be able to be created and the backup will fail with the ever so useful (not) 99 code.  Good luck

If you have NetApp filer then you can run the df -Vg to check the available space on the volumes and even snapshot reserve utilization (.snapshot) on each volume.

Make sure you have available snapshot reserver space.

Let me know if you have any other NAS, like EMC Celerra...

Hi,

I will check 3 things first:

    1. Does the media server haves access to the filer? confirm this with
        set_ndmp_attr -verify <NDMP server>

    2. What kind of NDMP config do you have, remote-NDMP, 3way-NDMP or single-NDMP? this is importat in order to know where the failure could be.

    3. Try to get data from the filer with: tpautoconf -probe <filer name> this will give you back the Serial Number, World Wide Name and some other stuf from teh filer and the tape drive that is trying to use.

Let us know.
regards.

I thought that was one of the points of this forum - for users to post questions that might help them as well as others.

I'm not sure where I could make the suggestion, but I think there should be a time limit on the ability to edit a post, and if you absolutely need to have one edited after it has closed, then you could reach out to the moderator or administrator to do the editing.

Put it forward as an Idea (if you haven't already ;) )
