We just purchased SYMC NETBACKUP PLATFORM BASE 7.0 XPLAT 1 FRONT END TBYTE STD LIC REWARDS BAND A 20940944 and
SYMC NETBACKUP PLATFORM BASE 7.0 the servers just came in two weeks ago, had I realized the licensing started from date of purchase I would have waited two more month. At any rate I followed the directions and downloaded the software and ended up with this
1,211,504 NetBackup_7.0_Release_Notes.pdf
1,636,510,252 NetBackup_7.0_CLIENTS_GA.tar.gz
1,730,150,400 NetBackup_7.0_Win_GA-zip.1of2
6,069 NetBackup_7.0_ESD2DVD_links.sh
1,215,646,005 NetBackup_7.0_Win_GA-zip.2of2
1,149 NetBackup_7.0_Win_GA-README.txt
1,049,401,344 NetBackup_RealTime_Protection_7.0_EN.iso.3of3
1,610,612,736 NetBackup_RealTime_Protection_7.0_EN.iso.2of3
1,231 Readme_RealTime_Protection_7.0.iso.txt
1,610,612,736 NetBackup_RealTime_Protection_7.0_EN.iso.1of3
4,270,626,816 NetBackup_RealTime_Protection_7.0_EN.iso
1,437,957,236 NetBackup_7.0_HPIA_GA(2).tar.gz
The iso's are no big deal, combining the RTP's no big deal and I moved the tars over to the RX6600 that is going to be the master and has a two drive HP ultra 1760 scsi attached library.
I am currently running netbackup 5.0 with an HP 2 dlt4 60 tape library on a N class PA RISC class server with HP11.2x that will be retired once this is up and running.
I ftp'd the gz files over an opened them up, hpia and client and they are currently sitting on a 40 gig slice just for this extraction so I could look it over and get at the docs.
The problem starts with 'mounting the software meda'
The new server is an RX6600 running HP_UX 11.31
Sure would have been nice if the files were ALL iso's that I could burn on the PC I downloaded them to and that I could put a label on so I could at least follow along with the install manual.
Do the GA HPIA and the GA clients need to be on a single dvd or seperate ones.
Thanks

seperate ones."
Can't see that it really matters - one's the master/media software (for HPIA) & the other just for clients (all UNIX flavours)

I figured that but I was also thinking that the client software would need to be installed on the master so that it can push clients down, true ?
So does it need access to both master and client during the initial install to build the client library ?
Thanks

No, you can just treat it as a separate installation after the fact.
**Clarification**
"I figured that but I was also thinking that the client software would need to be installed on the master so that it can push clients down, true ?" - YES
"So does it need access to both master and client during the initial install to build the client library ?" - NO (see first answer above).
