You will need the 6.5 client as Windows 2000 does not have VSS. VSS was a feature introduced with Windows 2003.
Hope it make sense :)

You can't, Windows 2000 is not supported with NetBackup 7.x or even 6.x
The earliest Windows version is XP.
See OS Compatibility Guide:
NetBackup 7.0

NetBackup 6.x

You use VSP for Windows 2000. You need the NBU 6.x client for Windows2000
http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO13858
Revaroo: Windows 2000 is listed in the NBU 6.x compability guide - page 23.

@NIcloi:
I have net backup 7.1 on win 2000 client

"In versions 7.0 and later VSP is no longer a valid snapshot method. These systems will need to utilize the VSS provider for snapshots." ====IS this true?
