Migrating data between 2000 and 2003 Windows

We have two servers, both connected to an EMC SAN and need to migrate Data between the two systems. For technical reasons the only option we have is to create a swing volume, that we copy data from the 2000 box running veritas volume manager to the swing volume, then we detach and mount this swing volume to the 2003 server running Storage manager and copy the data from the swing to the 2003 server.

This works well, however we can't seem to move data the other way the data gets corrupted, any ideas. When we copy data from the 2003 box to the volume, the 2000 server can't read it properly.

Any IDEAS?

I'm not sure why the data gets corrupted when you move from Windows 2003 to Windows 2000. I've done it in the lab, and it works fine. We also have information from Microsoft that says that NTFS shouldn't be the culprit here.
