Files and Folders - File Version Limit question

I've created a backup task using the Files and Folders option. I've set a file version limit of 30. I have a couple of questions:
  • Does this mean that the back up task will save 30 past versions of the files, or up to 30 modified versions over the past 30 days?
  • How are deleted files handled?
I'd like to create a F&F task that saves all files for 30 days. Like a rolling history. I'd like to be able to restore any single file from any point in the past 30 days. Is this possible with this product?

Well, the backups have been rolling daily for several months now. As far as I can tell all versions of all modified files are backed up.

The problem is I only want the last 30 days! I don't see a means of selectively removing those past 30 days.

Does anyone have any suggestions??
