I have BESR 2010 Management Console running and the DB is the SQLEXPRESS version. I want to move the DB to SQL 2005 on a different server. I'm thinking that I backup and detatch the DB from the EXPRESS server then copy and attach the DB to the SQL 2005 server. I'm not sure what settings need to be changed in the management console to point to the new DB location.
Has anyone done this?

Hi,
1 - Install Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio into your actual BESR-MS
It's free, download it from Microsoft
2 - Make a backup of your DB in a file, with a right click on the DB name
3 - Install SQL 2005 Server with BESR-MS into your new server
Use a différent name for the DB (BESOLUTION for exemple)
4 - Make a New DB with SQL 2005 SRV named as your old DB
5 - Restore your Backup into this DB
6 - Use BESR-MS to change the active DB
Look at the screenshot (Sorry, it's in French)
I tried it, but on the same SRV
If it don't work, you can rolleback to your initial DB with step 6, or try to name your new server as the old one
Good luck !!

Hi
Have you tested yet ?

I have not been able to test but will soon. This looks like what I was thinking would work. If it works I'll mark this as a solution
Thanks,

I just went through this process and it works. I moved our database to a SQL Server 2008 box and our console operates much faster. It was worth the move. Thanks!

OK - congratulation
Don't forget to mark me as a solution

How many machines managed have you got ?

I have spent weeks with support trying to get our BESR2010 server working and it is ridiculously slow 5 minutes to load pages I see SQL using 95% + CPU
Pages timing out with errors
Is this the same problem you had with your server?
The tech did suggest moving SQL to different server

We I gave up on my old server and did a new install on a new server and BESR2010ms
Is at least usable now and I don’t get pages timing out
I have 9 desktop being managed now I would recommend the minimum CPU Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X3210 @ 2.13GHz with 4 gig ram
