SSR 2011 cannot create SSRD on USB

Sant_Agostino

Hi,

I try to create SSRD on a USB device but  " Error during LightsOut Restore. Space insufficent on the  system disk"

( Why Lightout Restore ?  I don't use it. )

There is about 10 Gbyte on disck C: and 4 Gbyte on USB device.

If I create a SSRD ISO on disk C: its works

If I install LightsOut and create a SRD on disk, its works.

Notebook with WIndows XP SP4 2GB RAM, Italian Language.

Thanks in advance

Are these U3 devices?

No they there aren't.

On the Kingston's website there is this infromation :

http://www.kingston.com/itroot/flash/DTIG3.asp?id=8

DTIG3/8GB Unità Flash USB 8GB (2.0)

Verbatim is  a old USB stick.

Can you please provide a screenshot of the screen where it lists USB disks (during the create SSRD wizard). I would like to see what is reported in terms of media, partition, free space etc.

Yes, the screenshot is in attach

Would you be willing to format this USB drive as NTFS to see if it helps?

I'm not saying it will work for certain but I think it's worth trying.

Before reformatting, try again with a shorter disk label name (try with just SSRD).

I try with label = SSRD, but there is the same problem

In your original comment, you mentioned:

Notebook with WIndows XP SP4 2GB RAM, Italian Language.

I don't think there is an SP4 for XP yet, right? Can you confirm the service pack level please?

Also, do you have any English operating systems that you could test with?

Can you please attach the following file:

\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec System Recovery\Logs\Srelog.txt

Sant_Agostino

The file is in attach.

The path is:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Dati applicazioni\Symantec\Symantec System Recovery\Logs

that is the Italian translation of your path.

A note... ( I don't know if it is important ). For all year 2010 I have used Symantec Backup Exec Desktop Edition 2010. Recently I upgraded to SSR 2011 without problem.

How much free disk space do you have on the C drive?

Sant_Agostino

About 28Gbyte.

Hmm, strange.

There is definitely a problem with the way it is writing a temporary copy to the C drive. Can you do a disk cleanup and remove all the temporary files - then try again?

I have done a disk cleanup, but I have the same problem.

Additionally I try to uninstall SSR 2011 and now I have a new problem !!!!

See the attach, please.

If I confirm OK the uninstall script loop and popup the same error !!!
