Scripting the creation of backup job with Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery

bcfooster
Not applicable

My organization is currently looking at deploying BESR to approximately 300 mobile workstations. The only thing holding us back at this point is the ability to create a backup job without going through the manual creation wizard. I have attempted to find where the backup job information is being stored and was unable to find anything in the registry or filesystem. We are not backing up an entire drive, only selected folders.

Could someone either tell me if this is even possible or where BESR stores backup job information?

For a volume based backup you could either use the BESR 2010 Management Solution (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH77201), or try this link:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/downloads/vbs-files-configuring-besr-8x7x-license-smtp-options-and-creating-backup-jobs

For a file&folder backup there is, afaik, no way to schedule them through the BESR 2010 Management Solution. Or you could try to script it using the documentation provided on the product CD in the docs\automation folder.
