Use BESR to migrate DC to new hardware

Hi

I am wondering if it is possible to use BESR to effectively migrate a DC to new hardware using restore anywhere. As it is a DC I would take the image from the restore cd, rather that doing a hot image in case of log files etc.

What i am wondering is that during a normal restore anywhere, the routine asks for the server to pe put back into the domain. that is ok for a member server obviously but i dont think it would be good for a DC! Does a restore anywhere of a DC just skip this step?

Cheers

Dave

During Windows Setup after a restore with Restore Anyware, you shouldn't see any prompts for the DC to join a domain. Search the STN for BESR Active Directory best practices for hints on how to migrate a DC to new hardware.

PS: Make sure you disconnect the old DC before bringing the new DC online.
