how to limit recovery point sets for offsite copy

I have configured the backup job to limit the number of recovery point sets to 3. I have also enabled offsite copy but want to limit the offiste to a single recovery point set. Does anyone know if this is possible? If not, is there any kind of workaround? It seems entirely plausible that an administrator would want to keep their local historical backups longer than the offsite ones where you are paying a third party provider for that offsite disk space.

This is not possible I'm afraid as the offsite location is just a replica of the primary backup destination.
