I am running BE 2012 with curent live updates installed on a server running 2003R2 with SQL 2008.

The server has been running for several years and just started getting "0xe000fe34 - A checksum of the data has failed".

every time a backup is run.

Are you backing up to disk or tape? What resources are being backed up, and does it fail during the verify stage? Also check the Windows Application and System Event Viewer for more information.

You could also try to simply create a new job and see if you experience the same error.

Hi Laurie

1. We are backing up to disk

2. We are backing up a Server2003 AD

3. Fails during verify

Hi Laurie

BE 2012 is currently at SP 4 with Hot fix 217347 applied.

Also, I checked the event viewer - and the only error was in applications - showing the checksum error.

What is the resource you are backing up and at what phase (backup, verify) is the error occuring?

As already stated earlier in the thread

"Hi Laurie

3. Fails during verify

Jerry"

Jerry,

In the job properties from the Microsoft SQl tab is the option for "Use checksum on backups (SQL 2005 or later)" selected? If so, try unchecking this option and run the job again to see if you still receive the error.

What Service Pack are you currently running for Server 2003 R2? You might want to confirm compatibility from Microsoft found HERE

Clarification for: “You might want to confirm compatibility from Microsoft”

You might want to confirm the compatibility for SQL 2008 R2 to be installed on a 2003 Server
