BE 12.5 taking more space on tapes

I am facing a strange issue with BE 12.5 SP4 and robotic library,

If I backup 1 gb of file to b2d, that works okay

If I backup 1gb file to tape drive, job log show 1gb backed up however under devices it shows 3 gb being used.

It was working fine before, now my backups are not fitting to tapes

What I mean above..there is no error or issues in Job log.

If you go under devices tab -  used space on tape would show 3gb.

I have tried backing up mutiple server, Even tried brand new tapes and no difference.

We dont have encrption enabled also tried disabling compresssion.

It sounds like you could have a clogged head on your tape drive.  I suggest running the hardware diagnostics or contacting your vendor.

...do you have compression enabled somewhere? It's not unheard of that data that is already compressed will rehydrate itself, meaning you backup more effectively.

Which is tape yor are using for backup?

and what is the type of teape?

Thanks.. Problem got fixed after replacing the tape drive... tape drive vendor was already aware of this
