Backing up Exchange 2007 SP2 w/BackupExec 12.5

My BE server is Windows Server 2008 R2 and my Exchange 2007 SP2 server is Windows Server 2008.

I read the instructions here: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/288777.htm and it tells me to install the Exchange 2007 Management tools on the BE server.  I can't install the tools because Exchange 2007 can't install on Server 2008 R2 or atleast I don't know how because it won't let me through the Exchange installer.

Does anyone know a work around?

Does anyone know if you can still backup/restore without installing the tools?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
David

David,

Backup Exec 12.5 is not supported on Windows Server 2008 R2 as a media server.  I would suggest putting it on a supported OS, such as Windows 2008 or 2003 R2.  Please review our Software Compatibility List (link below) for a full list of supported OS's for a media server.

Is there an ETA for when/if 2k8r2 is going to be supported?

2k8 R2 will be supported (as a Media Server) in BE 2010 which will be on general release early in the new year

Limited support for a remote agent is offered by a hotfix in BEWS 12.5
