Hi, I just want to confirm if Backup Exec Media Server can monitor or control data transfer rate of backups?

Is there some tab in the menu where I can look for this? Or some information in the console that refer to this?

Thanks for your help.

Best Regards.

Hi Nesmac,

Backup Exec Media Server can monitor but can not control the Job Rate/Data Transfer. There is no switch or a pointer to increase or decrease the job rate. The job rate can only be improved by taking care of few options in backup exec and majorly by tweaking few of the environmental aspects.

Check the TECH Articles on improving the performance.

List of backup or restore Performance TechNotes (troubleshooting slow throughput backups and restores) for Backup Exec Products

Backup performance in Backup Exec 2012 can be slower than previous versions

Also, if you are looking for the transfer rate or backup job rate.

In Backup Exec 2012- Check the active job from either Backup and Restore tab or from the Storage tab by clicking on Jobs on the left side. Again, for the jobs which have completed and you want to check the job rate it ran with, you can check the Job History of that job.
