Backup Strategy Recommendation

Hello all, I am a 2nd time writer and wanted to engage in a quick general discussion about what everyone including Veritas engineers feel about Backup to Disk strategies? I will have 8 file servers total to back up (4 File Print, 3 Application with 2 SQL Server 2000 & 1 Sybase 9, and 1 Lotus Domino v 5.0.12). I have been doing parallel backup to disk and then a subsequent job to tape with same target folders/files with the 60 day trial and it seems to work well. I have a large HP ML370 server with plenty of RAM and internal RAID V disk. It has an internal HP 72I 36GB native and 72GB compressed DAT device. I wanted to gage everyone's comments on whether a quick separate network based backup to disk and then archival of the back folder/BKF file to tape is a valid strategy in everyone's eyes as opposed to just doing 2 backups per night? Thank You in advance Jim

Hello,

It seems that you want to run a duplicate job from backup to disk to tape, please see the technote to help you further regarding this:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/256096

If the device is connected to RAID controller then we recommend that you connect it to SCSI please see the technote below:

If our understanding is incorrect please revert.

Thanks,
