Doing some planning here and trying to figure out the process for the following scenario.
we have a backupexec 2012 running right now we backup the Database and the whole install folder for the catalouges etc.
Say in a fire we lose that whole server so we get a new one in and install backupexec how do I get that info back from tape so that I can start restoring other servers?
Thanks

The easiest way to recover the media server will be to use SDR. Since you are using tape, you would need to put the .dr file on a USB stick so that SDR can use it to reference the backup set on the tape. SDR will be able to recover the entire server.
If you do not use SDR, then you have to do a manual recovery.
1) load the OS
2) load BE
3) inventory and catalog the tape
4) restore the Data and Catalog directories to another directory
5) stop all the BE services
6) replace the Data and Catalog directories using the restored copies
7) start all the BE services
8) recover the media server and then all the remote servers

Hello,
You may look at Simplified Disaster Recovery as a solution.
Please find the information related to SRD, in the following documents:
Step by step guide for Simplified Disaster Recovery (SDR) with Backup Exec 2012

There is a good step-by-step , with screen shots at the following blog:
