How do I obtain the latest W2008 remote agents?

If you have installed Backup Exec than the installables of Remote Agent are available at 

X:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\ 

There is RAWS32 for 32bit server and RAWS64 directory for 64 bit server.

However this is the base version of Remote Agent, as in when you run Live Update and install

latest patches the RAWS directory gets updated.

What version of Backup Exec you are using ?

Hi You have not mention though what backup exec version you are on, because if it is win2008 r2 ,then it is supported from backupexec version 12.5 and above. There is no specific agent for any version of windows ,to backup remote windows server ,you install remote agent. My media server is running BE 12.0 on a win2003 32bit

Attempting to install the agent on a win2008 server 64bit

I ran the update through BE. It shows Service pack 5

The agent install fails with a message about the user does not have rights to the folder.

From the remote server the event log shows it is trying to install incompatible software

Hi Dan,

You need to check it properly whether remote server is running only on win2008 Std /Ent or whether it is running on win2008 r2 OS

If it is running on win2008 then , it is supported & you should be able to install remote agent on it

Please check SCL for BE 12.0

But then if it is win2008 r2 then BE 12.0 doesn't support it & it is supported from 12.5 that too for remote agent , You cannot install BE 12.5 on win2008 r2

So finally if you are running on win2008 r2 please upgrade the Backup exec Media serve to BE 12.5 and above to install remote agent

If it is win2008 then you should not see the error ,
