Backup sets not used by BE

Hello,

I can't find information about a difference betwen 2010 and 2012. In BE 2010 the B2D files that has expired date, the system reclaim the space and the IMG files are deleted and the B2D files are available to overwrite.

In 2012 the files don't leave from disk to use the space, so the space of disk begin to low space and the only solution that I see is delete the old files manually. I was searching an automatic option, like 2010, to claim this space.

Any know about this?

Hello Carlos,

   In BE 2012 there is a new feature called Data Life-cycle Management (DLM) which is used to manage the expired (overwritable media).

Automated data lifecycle management (DLM) for disk and cloud storage

Backup Exec uses data lifecycle management to automatically expire backup sets on disk and cloud storage. Backup Exec reclaims the storage space when the amount of time that you specify when you create the backup job expires. If backup sets are dependent on other backup sets, then Backup Exec does not expire the data until all expiration dates are reached. You do not need to manage media when you keep backup data on disk or cloud storage.
