Did you mean:

Backup using SAN instead of LAN

Hi.....  I was told by sales that I would be able to do this, but I haven't figured it out yet:

I have a media server attached to the SAN (with the SAN option), and it can backup remote servers to a tape library (MSL6000) which is also attached to the SAN.  Of course, right now the communication between the remote server and the media server is done through the LAN.

So, the obvious question is:  How do I backup the remote machine using the SAN?  The sales guy informed me that I would be able to make an alternate selection under "Netowrk And Security", but all I see there are the LAN cards.

The remote machine is also connected to the SAN.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Forch

I think you may have been mislead there. You can backup SAN data using Offhost backup, or the Shared Storage Option, both of which have specific requirements. Have a look at http://www.backupexecfaq.com/articles/concepts/how-do-i-get-backup-exec-to-transfer-data-across-my-s...
