I reinstalled BackupExec 2012 on my server because it kept crashing, now I have a local backup of the backup server working but at 4GB when my drive is 37GB - what the hell!

I hate this program ...

Hi

So are you reffering the bkf file of 4gb of physical disk. It might be there would be few several 4gb bkf files used for this above backup of C & SQl database. have you checked in job log ,how many bkf files were used.

Thanks

Hi

It has use 2 files below

B2D000009, B2D000010 so you mean to say the file size of each on pysical location is 4gb is each?

You will have to check compression too ,if you are getting any.

Thanks

Is any of your data under DSFR?  If so, they are backed up when you backup the system state.  They will not be backed up during the backup of the folders.

You should backup the system state and see how much data is backed up?  The system state could account for all the missing data.

I don't understand how it has changed - my last backup the same way ended up being 53GB before I reinstalled BackupExec, and the Windows folder now is 7.7GB by itself

Hi

I think for this new issue you it would be good if you open a new thread. Also for system state have you tried doing backup using windows backup does it work fine. If not please check that

Thanks

Backing up with Windows Server Backup works fine, 15.7GB of files, 13.32GB backed up - smaller than the space used on the drive, but still alot more than 4GB!
