CRC on DLT media & restore

Want to restore some files from an old DLT media with CRC error.

How can I override that catalog / restore abort's on media CRC error ?

Is there any utility or tool which can do this ?

Just a raw tapedump of available data.

Any tips ?

What do you want to do with the RAW data?

If it's critical data you might be able to send it to a data recovery specialist, who have special equipment for directly reading the contents of tapes, HDD's, CD's etc. They might be able to pull out all bar the faulty areas of the tape, but it's not a cheap solution, so you'd need to determine how vital the data is and if it's worth the expense.

With Backup exec, if the backup job had failed with CRC errors,the restore cannot be guaranteed.

You can catalog the tapes and try the restore, but it might not necessarily succeed.
