Can I change the Protocol used?

Hi,

I am new to symmantec. I have backup exec 10d v.10.1 for windows and it is running on a Windows 2003 server. I have set it up and realised that the protocol used is nbt. Is there a way to change this? Can I use some other, more secure, protocol instead?

Thanks in advance for all your help

The protocols and ports used for push installs may only be needed for the actual push install. It is possible to perform local installs which can be the best option if firewall security is an issue.

Standard Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows uses NDMP, however CPS potentially requires extra communication
Suggest you review http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/285830 for information

We use NDMP protocol to perform backups and restores. This is a standard protocol designed for better performance with bacups and restores. Please visit http://www.ndmp.org/ for more details on NDMP. This is hard coded and cannot be changed. You may want to change the port if required, but protocol cannot be changed.

Please mark it a solution, if this is useful.

Thanks

Thanks, then may I ask why the nbt protocol is used? The only way I got to push install CPS is by opening the NBT protocol in the firewall.
