I am running Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit
I am running Backup EXEC 2010 - fully patched
Recently the jobs run but when i try to go into the job log, the progrma freezes up
Cannot view anything and I have to force backup exec to close
I have rebooted the server and still have the same issues
Any ideas?

Try a repair install of BE.

If you check your Alerts tab, are there any specific errors shown?
Does your Event Viewer show anything as well?

What is the actual size of job log ? I guess you can verify in the DATA folder to see the size.
If the size is too heavy then you wont be able to open, may be because you are collecting all files, directories processed information in it, which could cause the log to grow out of limit.

Launch Backup Exec and go to Tools | Options | Job log and verify what is the job log option set to.
Is it collecting every information in the log which is causing the log size to grow? If yes then the job log which is configured to be read in htm format , will take hours to open up.
