Catalog contains many jobs and tapes

Hi,

I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question.

Perhaps someone can explain how the contents of a catalog are determined.

I have a single catalog that contains 61 jobs, spaning 15 tapes over a period of 16 days. While on the other hand, I have catalolgs that only contain span one tape and the 4 jobs written to that tape over a period of two days.

So, what determines when BE starts up a new catalog?

Thanks!!

Scott

Hello,
the size of the backups depends on the size of the backup sets and the number of tapes employed.

You can refer to the following Article as an additional Information:

Hope this helps you.

I realized that each job was appending to a tape containing the previous job so it looks like one continuous job.
