Changing Backup Servers

We are in the process of changing our backups from one server to another.

We have two Novell servers at very remote locations. These two servers are on a different subnet.

We unload the remote agent (bestop) then install the remote agent from the new server then restart then restart the agent (bestart) .

Then reboot the remote server.

The Agent does not appear under the Remote Selections for Novell Storage Management Services on the new server.

It still appears on the old server.

This has worked for years under the old server.

What needs to be installed or switched on to finish this setup.

Add the Netware machine name to "Tools" > "Options" > "Netware SMS" tab.


What is the version of the Remote Agent that is installed on the Netware server..?

Search for the "Version.DOC" in "SYS:BKUPEXEC" path.

Uninstall the serials from the old media server and install them on the new media server.

Remote Agents have two components: code that runs on the Remote Server and a Key that unlocks the capability on the media server

(You didn't need to physically remove the agents on the Novell server, either, just installing the serials on the new media server should have been all that you need to do.)
