Clients got disappeared from Windows Favorite List

Dear All,

We are facing a serious issue on the Backup Exec Application.

The Servers from Favorite Resources are getting disappeared.

Few days back all had exclamatory mark on most of them.

Today all are invisible, who were having that mark.

What will be the reason behind this?

We are running Backup Exec 2010 (13.0 Rev 2896 - 64 Bit) on Windows Server 2008 R2 Server

The exclamation mark will show when the remote server is not publishing correctly.

First on the Media server (Backup Exec server) make sure that the Backup Exec Agent Browser service is up and running. If the service is stopped then start it.

On the Remote servers where Remote agent is installed go to START>> ALL PROGRAMS>> SYMANTEC and open Bacup Exec Remote Agent Utility.

Select the publishing tab and check if the name of the Media server is added or not. If the Media server name is not added then clcik on change and add the Media server name in the publishing tab.

Restart all the BE services on the Media server and the Remote server.

EDIT: If the Agent Browser service is running then ensure that PORT 6101 is not blocked or is not used by any other process.

Thanks,

-Sush...

>> Backup Exec Agent Browser service is up and running. Even we tried to restart it. No change.

>> We have not made any changes on remote server, so ideally we dont have to modifying the settings on remote servers.

Restart all the BE services on the Media server and the Remote server.

>> We have not enabled firewall on backup server as well as on remote servers.

Just check whether remote agent is publishing to the media server or not. You may not have changed anything intentionally, but some things will happen without oyr knowledge. Check the remote agent utility, if it publishing to media server fine, otherwise follow the advice given by Sush.

We are not sure what happened, but what we did is listed below :

1) Restarted Backup Exec Agent Browser Service, as stated by Sush.

2) Ine one of the client, who was Secondary Domain Controller, we added all the IPs of Backup Server and Rebooted the Backup Exec Service

Then we saw one bye one servers are hooking up in the Favorite List.

Now we have removed all the IPs from that Client , restarted the backup exec services.

Still the Clients are reporting to Backup Exec Server and count is increasing by the time...

May be the Backup Exec Agent Browser Service was the reason, but still not sure...

Anyway...
Thank you all...

Hi,

Try adding any one server under "User Defined Selections" using the IP address and check if you are able to expand the server.
