Cloud Plug-In for BE 2010/2012?

Hey all, I was reading up on BE 2012 and came across a mention of something called an OST Cloud Plug-In for on-premises Backup Exec installations. As far as I understood it, it sounds like it means that if I have a local, on-premises installation of Backup Exec, I can install this plug-in, subscribe to a cloud storage provider, and then send a copy of my locally backed up data to the cloud provider which means I can possibly get rid of off site tapes.

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO74373

Am I understanding this feature correctly?

If so, then how do I get this feature working? I need the plug-in, and a subscription to a cloud provider. But which provider, how much do they charge per GB, and do I need any other agents/BE options in my local install to make this work?

Any info would be appreciated!

It seemed to me that the original poster was referring to Backup Exec 2012, BackupExec.cloud is a different product.  He was also correct in How Symantec is marketing it.  Unfortunately, it seems that Nirvanix remains the only Vendor with an OST plugin for Backup Exec even though NetBackup now has several other vendors.  (Which seems a little backwards, I would hope this changes soon.)

Hi,

Currently Backup Exec 2012 can utilise Nirvanix for Cloud based Storage, as can Enterprise Vault and Netbackup.

Please go to http://go.symantec.com/nirvanix for more information.

Hope this helps

thanks

Any idea if this also works with IBM's SmartCloud Enterprise Object Storage which is hosted by Nirvanix?
