EXCH Restore - MAPI/CDO not on Windows 2008 R2!?

Hello!

I just received the information from tech support, that problems on restoring individual mail objects can occur, when BE 2010 is installed on a Windows 2008 R2 server.
Actually, the problem seems to be that MAPI/CDO is not supported on Windows 2008 R2 and does not work.
Can anybody confirm this or better has a solution to get it running?

I currently know a bunch of customers who installed BE 2010 on a Windows 2008 R2 server. If there is no solution to get it running properly, they all have to downgrade windows again and re-install BE 2010.

Any information would be helpful!
Thank you very much!

best regards

Dominik

What is exactly going wrong ?
I have Backup Exec 2010 running on a Windows 2008R2 server, Exchange 2007 SP3 is also installed on another Windows 2008R2 and I am able to restore individual items in a mailbox succesfully.

Do you have MAPI/CDO installed on the Exchange server ?

Hello Zero,

actually yes. MAPI/CDO is installed on the Exchange Server and Exchnage Management Tools are Installed on the BE 2010 Windows 2008 R2 Server.
Symantec tech support send me this:

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/288777.htm

"Exchange Server 2007 is not supported on Windows Server 2008 R2 (  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232170%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx ). Exchange 2007 Management tools cannot be installed to a media server installed on Windows Server 2008 R2. We suggest using Windows Server 2008 SP2 or earlier so that all media server requirements can be met for Exchange GRT backups and restores. This is currently a Microsoft compatibility issue and will be updated if they decide to add support for this configuration in the future."

customer received a MAPI logon error: V-79-57344-766

Thank you very much!

best regards

Dominik

Exchange 2007 was not supported on Windows 2008R2, but Windows 2007 SP3 IS supported on Windows 2008R2.
