First please check if your device is compatible with the version of backup exec 9.x version that u have:

If your device has been stated as tested, download veritas drivers. If it has been stated as compatible use OEM drivers.

If event ID's 7,9,11,or 15, are present in the application Event log then the problem is most likely to be a Hardware issue.
