First storage group is currently being backed up by another process

Our backups are failing every day with the same error messages:

V-79-57344-65193
Backup- \\ExchangeServer\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group Error, Unable to open \\ExchangeServer\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group because it is currently being backed up by another process.

The job log also shows that the Mailbox Store, Public Folder Store, and Log FIles are corrupt files and cannot verify.

We have Bexec10 running on Windows 2003. I have unchecked the User Data component in Shadow Copy Components on the Exchange Server. Additonally, the Microsoft Exchange settings 'Perform consistency check before backup...' and 'Continue with backup if consistency check fails' are both unchecked.

Does anyone know what could be causing these errors and how to resolve them?

Hello,

Please refer the following technote.

Title:
"The Backup Exec data store encountered a problem during the operation. See the job log for details." (a000fea9 HEX or e000fea9 HEX) is reported in a failed backup job log or "Database or database element is corrupt" (a000fea9 HEX or e000fea9 HEX) is reported when backing up the Microsoft Exchange Information Store.

I have tried to backup the Information Store using NTBackup - this also gives the similar error 'Backup is already active'

Hello,

Although you had mentioned earlier that you had deselected Exchange from under user data, just ensure if it has been done by referring to the following technote:

Title: Exchange 2003 backups fail with the error: "Database or database element is corrupt."
http://support.veritas.com/docs/265159

Also, as mentioned in the previous technote sent, http://support.veritas.com/docs/269156, in case the problem recurs with NT backup too, it suggests that it could be a problem with the Microsoft Exchange database in which case, you will need to contact Microsoft.

Note : If we do not receive your reply within two business days, this post would be marked ‘assumed answered’ and would be moved to ‘answered questions’ pool.

Regards.
