How to Back Up WD 8T Network Attached Storage

I have a Western Digital 8T (actually 6T on Raid 5) NAS. IS there a way to use Backup Exec to back this up? I cannot install a driver on it. (At least as far as I can determine.)

yeah, this has been a kind of "gotcha" for quite some time

Even though you cannot install a Agent on the NAS, you still need to install a RAWS serial on the Media Server to back one up

You probably also need to define a User Defined Share, since with no agent, the NAS cannot publish itself to the media server

You will need a RAWS licence even though you cannot install the RAWS onto the NAS.  This is for licencing purposes.

As advised earlier, you define a shared directory on the NAS and then select the UNC name of the NAS for backup.  If your NAS support iSCSI, then map the NAS a local drive on the media and then back that up.
