Install Symantec Backup Exec 2012 on Windows Server 2012?

Hi community!  I have Backup Exec 2012 v 14 running on a Windows Server 2003 R2 server.  I want to upgrade the server to 2012.  I'll have to perform a clean install of Server 2012 since there isn't an upgrade path from 2003 r2 to 2012.  My question is: can I install Backup Exec 2012 v14 on a Windows Server 2012 server?  Another question: can backup exec 2012 backup Windows Server 2012 servers? And yet another question: can I reinstall Backup Exec 2012 onto a new server using the license I have?

Do you have active maintenance? If you do I recommend upgrading your server to Backup Exec 2014, stopping the BE services and making a copy of the Data and Catalog folders, upgrade your OS , then install Backup Exec 2014 (don't open the BE console) stop BE services again and readd the Data and Catalog folders.

1. You cannot load BE 2012 onto Server 2012. This is not supported. To load BE onto Server 2012, you need to upgrade to BE 2014. This upgrade is free if you are on a current maintenance contract. Your BE 2012 licence keys will not work with BE 2014 2. BE 2012 is able to backup Server 2012, but not Server 2012 R2. See this document http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH175581 3. You can install BE onto a new server with your existing licence keys, but make sure you uninstall BE from the old server.

Thanks for the replies.  Can BE 2012 be installed on Windows Server 2008 R2?

Yes you can install BE2012 on Win 2008 R2 server
