Installing RAWS on a 2003 64bit server

Hi -

I'm trying to install the remote agent onto our new Windows 2003 64x server. BE is currently installed on a windows 2000 server running BE 10.0 rev 5520 w/ SP3.

I can see the server but when I go to push the RAWS I get the error 'The account name and/or password supplied is not valid. Please re-enter the login information and try again'. However I am 100% certain that the login name and password are correct.

Anyone have any idea about what else it could be?

TIA -

The BE service account needs to be a domain administrator and in the backup operators group. The remote agent should start witht he same account.

The agent is available under program files\symantec somewhere there is a sub directory called agents, you can put it on CD and try the install on the target machine rather than a push install

As long as the serial is entered on the media server, you can do a local install of the RemoteAgent

See http://support.veritas.com/docs/267325

it is a domain admin account so that's not the issue.

I did try to do a local install instead of a push and got the resulting error message when I tried to install it:

'the file is valid but is for a machine type other than the current machine'

Again, I am running Windows 2003 server 64x edition if that makes any difference.

It shouldn't matter as long as you use the correct agent, the 64 bit and 32 bit are both in the agents directory

I got pass the username/password error but now am getting the error "Remote installations to 64 bit computers are not supported."

If I try to install it locally using the document you provided, I get 'the file is valid but is for a machine type other than the current machine'

It can be installed only on 64-bit Intel Itanium and Itanium 2 computers running the Windows Server 2003 family or Windows XP 64-bit Edition.
It cannot be push installed. A local installation of the Remote Agent on the 64-bit computer is required.
It supports only the Symantec Volume Snapshot Provider (VSP) and Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) when used with the Advanced Open File Option.

Not trying to install the AOFO. However, it is an Intel Xeon machine w/ 2003 Server 64bit edition installed w/ SP1.

Looks like it won't install then. Time to contact symantec and find out why & when

It looks like I may have to upgrade to a later version, do you have a link for the upgrade to 10.1?

Here's a link to build 5629

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/279332.htm

(from the old Veritas Download page that is SOOOOOO much easier to use
http://support.veritas.com/content_ddProduct_BEWNT_view_DOWNLOAD.htm)

And here is HF1 - Extended 64-bit (x64) Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) http://support.veritas.com/docs/278018

Also SP3, should include HF1

Thanks so much for all your help. I installed SP3 but for some reason it wouldn't show up or take, so I actually had to install SP2 first, then the 'updated file' which is SP3 and it showed up that time, but still couldn't get the RAWS to install locally on the 64x. I followed your link to the specific hotfix and was able to get it working.

Thanks again!
