I keep getting the following error after running my nightly backup.
----- TapeAlert Events ----- The device has reported the following TapeAlert diagnostic information. Please contact your device manufacturer for more information regarding TapeAlerts. Information - The library has been manually turned offline and is unavailable for use. Robotic Library for Device: DELL 1 Warning - Library security has been compromised. Robotic Library for Device: DELL 1 Critical - The library has detected a inconsistency in its inventory. 1. Redo the library inventory to correct inconsistency. 2. Restart the operation Check the applications users manual or the hardware users manual for specific instructions on redoing the library inventory. Robotic Library for Device: DELL 1 --------

WHen i swap the tape out and request an inventory, i get the same error msg, inventory the 2nd time, no error msg nor after nightly backup....
i've updated the latest driver.

Should i submit an inventory EVERY time b-4 bu?

Thanks. ST

Hello,

Please refer the following technote:

How to troubleshoot issues with the "Robotic Library" and "Tape Drives" in VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.x for Windows Servers ]

http://support.veritas.com/docs/255501

Also verify if you are getting event id's 7, 9, 11 or 15.

I have selected the option to run the inventory every time a BE service is started.. I thought that submitting a backup job is concidered a service?

THanks.

It is an LTO-2 tape device connected to a controller card. The unit has 2 magazine inserts, a media IE slot and more internal slots in the rear.

I get Event ID 65314 Stating BE Alert: Tape ALert Error.
Inventory library reported multiple tape alerts on server......

same error pops up about the inventory w/in BE.

i have noticed when i swap out the tape and manually run an inventory, i get the inventory error. when i run another inventory or run the nightly bu, i get clean log.

I'm trying to get the unit to inventory the right way w/o getting any errors.
