Is V9.1 compatible with NT 4.0?

Jun_Alcanites

I have 2 servers in Europe, both running NT 4.0. I have upgraded them to run on Veritas 9.1 some months ago. The Warsaw office was having a lot of problems, service being cutoff in the middle of the job, that I had to reinstall V8.6. Since then, the backup has been running perfectly.

In our Moscow office, the same symptom is starting to happen. During the last 10 days, the backup engince has been cutoff in the middle of the job.

I am again thinking of reinstalling V8.6 in this office.

Any comments?

Thanks..

generally BEWS 9.1 supports NT4 SP6a on both lokal and remote machines.

The problems you have do not seem to be a general BEWS 9.1 NT4 related problem.
Prior to Version 10 and when NT4 was still more popular, planty of NT4 boxes were backed up with NT4.

Anyway, if you can go back to BENT 8.6 and this is sufficient for you - why not.
(just keep in mind that BENT 8.6 is not supported anymore)

Hello Jun!

Make sure you keep the following in mind:

IntelNT 4.0 Enterprise Edition (SP6A only)
IntelNT 4.0 Terminal Server (SP6 only)

SCL:

You might want to find out if the following is in order:
What are the things that you backup?
What are the SCSI settings of the tape device?
have you installed the latest device drivers?
Is the firmware updated of the scsi controller/Tape device?
the remote agents are of the same version as the media server?

Regards,
Ashutosh
