Issue with Exabyte 1x10 Offline

I have an Exabyte 1x10 which was working fine with W2K SP4. Now the library is showing offline.

The library functions fine if using the Exabyte tools to run tests.

I have used the Exabyte document for configuring a 1 x 10 to play nice with Backup Exec

I have been through reinstalling Backup Exec.

I have been through http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/255501.htm

I did notice the following in Bediag:

Scsi Address
Prt :Bus :Tar :Lun Attributes
------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

0001:0000:0002:0000 Device Name "\\.\MediumChanger0"

Device Flags SCSI
Device State 1, Offline, ERROR = 0x00000006 (ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE)

0001:0000:0003:0000 Device Name "\\.\Tape0"

I can't find any mention of this error in the Veritas KB. Can anyone help? It is getting critical as we can't backup.

Hello,

Since when does the problem occur? Are you using Veritas device drivers with Exabyte? Follow the steps below in order to resolve the issue:

1. Check the HCL for 10.0 and see if the device you use is compatible with Backup Exec. Is it a Library or a stand alone drive?

2. In case you are not using the latest revision for 10.0, install it from the following link:

VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 10.0 rev. 5520 for Windows Servers Installation Files http://support.veritas.com/docs/277181

3. Following this, install the latest device drivers if the device is seen as tested by backup exec in the HCL. Here is the link for the drivers:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/278408

4. If the device is not seen as tested, then install the OEM drivers from the vendor.

5. If the issue persists, check that the drive is detected well in the Windows device manager

6. Stop the Removable storage service and test the results.

Also c heck the technotes below:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/256134
http://support.veritas.com/docs/252078

If the issue persists, revert with details.

Hello,

The advice had been followed per the last reply and the HCL checked. The library still shows offline and Bediag has the error per the original post.

What next?

Hello,
Please ensure that you are not using raid card or raid controller.
Do a power cycle of the device and the server.
Check the scsi cables and scsi termination.
You have mentioned that you have checked the HCL, so is the device listed and what drivers are you using currently?

NOTE : If we do not receive your reply within two business days, this post would be marked assumed answeredand would be moved toanswered questions pool.
