Hello,
I am using BE 2010. When i start a backup job (on tape) everything is ok, and the job completes.
But now i am starting an inventory job, en the status is on Queued, and stays there.
I have already:
Restarted the BE services.
Restarted the server.
Restarted the robot.
Under devices, put the server on pauze, and then unpauzed the server again.
Nothing fixed my problem.
Can you please help me?
Thanks!
Greetings,
Sam

Download BE2010 R2 from www.backupexec.com
Stop SQL server BKUPEXEC server and take a backup of DATA & CATALOGS folder
The above folders are located at X:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec
Extract or Burn the BE2010 R2 ISO and then run the browser.exe

When you paused and unpaused the server did you get any error message.
Also check the status of the server in BEutility.
Check the alerts tab for any active alerts.

When i paused the server, i did get an error message. It's saying: Unable to pause Server1. And when i want to unpause, i get: Unable to resume Server1.
"Also check the status of the server in BEutility."
Do you mean the BE 2010 Remote Agent Utility? Because i can't see any activity in here .
I checked the alerts tab, but the only alert i see is the one from restarting the BE services.
Thank you!!

Try runing repair Databse using the Beutility and then try to pause and then unpause the server using Beutility itself

To fix the issue you will have to upgrade to BE2010R2

I rebuiled the database using the BE Utility. Still Queued.
I always worked fine. I dont know or it has anythint to do with it, buth this week the tape unit was replaced. After that i reboot the ESX server. The backup is doing fine at knitght, but the queued status is keeping up when i perform a inventory.

There is 1 Hotfix which is causing the server pause issue, I am not sure about the hotfix number.
If you remove the hotfix the server will show status as running, but its a workaround.
To fix the issue you will have to upgrade to R2.

Do i need a new licence key to upgrade to R2?
03-01-2011 08:32 AM
BE2010 license key will work with R2.
03-01-2011 03:58 PM
I updated to R2, and installed SP1 and all available hotfixes.
The inventory jubs runs again!! So thanks for that. But i have to do the pause / unpause trick to get it working. Is that normal?
Thanx

After upgrading you have to pause and unpause only once after that
you will not face the issue again.

Great Thanks a lot for the help.
Last question: after the backup last night i have this info in the log:
One or more Microsoft Exchange databases were backed up but the Symantec Backup Exec Active Directory Recovery Agent is not installed. Symantec recommends that you install and use the Active Directory Recovery Agent to better manage your Microsoft Exchange data.
Where can i find this Symantec BE AD RA?
03-02-2011 04:19 AM
You can ignore the message, the AD recovery agent is licensed agent.
AD RA is just a license key which allows you GRT backup & restore of AD.
