Linux Agent Fails on Some Live Logs

Not applicable
This is a strange one, so hints would be really appreciated:

We run Sophos PureMessage 4.71 on a RH 3 server and have installed the Linux Agent to backup to a Windows 2003 server running Backup Exec 9.1. This works OK, apart from the live PureMessage logs, which are being silently excluded from the backups. The archive/rotated logs in the same directory backup OK. The files in question are in /var/log/pmx4/:

-rw-r--r-- 1 pmx4 pmx4 15M Jun 2 09:52 message_log
-rw-r--r-- 1 pmx4 pmx4 264M Jun 2 09:52 pmx_log
-rw-r--r-- 1 pmx4 pmx4 58K Jun 2 10:39 ppm_log
-rw-r--r-- 1 pmx4 pmx4 54M Jun 2 10:52 vscan_log

I've tried removing and readding these file to the selection, and the scheduled backup then generates errors from the Job engine when it runs.

These files appear in the Job selection screens, and doing a manual backup of these files works fine.

Hello Stuart,
- What do you mean by Manual backup works?

- If these are Database files, you could try the following:
How to disable the Active File Exclusion feature in Backup Exec for Windows Servers
