Loading media (tape)

Hello

Is it normal for Backup Exec 12.5 to take 15mins "Loading media" whilst I do a test restore of 10 files that total < 1MB ? and then take 25mins fully to do the restore ?

We backup 200Gb data to our tapes.

What is it doing during this process ? Is it just establishing where the start of the tape is ? or is it finding the place where the data is stored ?

We're using an LTO4 drive.

Thank you

I should add that these files reside in different directories. I was doing a test restore of just normal data and that my initial estimation of 10 files < 1MB was wrong, it was 10 files < 10MB.

Restored 13 files in 13 directories.
Processed 7,586,479 bytes in 8 minutes and 58 seconds.
Throughput rate: 0.807 MB/min

However the entire job took 23mins.
