Hello!

I had problems with my discspace on c:

So I have moved the catalogfiles from c:\ to f:\ with Tools > Options > Catalog

But my Logfiles-Folder (c:\program files\symantec\backup exec\logs) is about 60GB.

I want to move this folder also to f:\. Where can I do this?

BackupExec 2010R2
Windows Server 2008x64

thx

hansi

So as expected Debugging is set to be enabled.

To turn off debugging go to Registry editor and go to following path:

HKLM | Software | Symantec | Backup Exec for Windows | Backup Exec | Logging

and change the value of Dword "CreateDebugLog" to 0.

Then come back to the Logs folder and delete all the files with names SERVERNAME-bengineXX-XXX.log , SERVERNAME-beremoteXX-XXX.log. This will free up the space.

If you are working on any case with Technical Support then do inform them that you have stopped the debugging.

Thanks,

You may change the logs location through BEUtility.exe

Refer to  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH50247

60GB is a lot for logs, have you enabled verbose.

Before moving the logs to another location my question would be why the LOG folder is 60 GB. Which files are taking high amount of space in that folder??

Logging should not be enabled by default.

Buddy... that technote speaks about Job Log path and so not the right one as Job Logs are not stored in LOGS folder and here LOGS folder has grown in size... ;)

Thanks,

My Files are named with SERVERNAME-bengineXX-XXX.log. All Logfiles have 20MB.

For one day I have about 15 logfiles. The oldest I found are 10 Month.

I think somebody turned on logging and forgot to turn it off.  If you are not trouble-shooting something, turn it off using the procedure below.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH37738

As in Figure 3, uncheck all the Enable Debug Log ... checkboxes.

Yes. You can delete the SERVERNAME-beremoteXX-XXX.log files.

This will just stop the debugging. Also as said earlier, IF you are working with technical support for any issue for which the debugging was enabled, then please inform the technician who is assigned to your case.

Thanks,
