Hi all,

this morning I shut down the services for Backup Exec 2010 R2, and now they will not start. It seemsthat SQL could be corrupt. I am finding the following in the Windows event log (Application). This is running on Windows 2008 R2 server.

Log Name:      System
Source:        Service Control Manager
Date:          3/23/2011 11:05:55 AM
Event ID:      7024
Task Category: None
Level:         Error
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:      ServerName

Description:
The SQL Server (BKUPEXEC) service terminated with service-specific error The specified resource name cannot be found in the image file..

    <Data Name="param2">%%1814</Data>

</Event>

Does anyone know how to fix this without having to reinistall BU Exec. Historical data is not important.

Thanks

Maybe you can run the BEUtility from the BE installation directory and reload the BEDB from fresh.

Hi,
the service that fails to start is the Backup Exec Device & Media Service and this is due to the database instance not starting.

Steve: Try running a repair on the BEDB through BEUTILITY. If that doesn't work, run a repair of the application through Add/Remove Programs.

Also make sure you're still using a domain account to run your services!

If CraigV's answer are not succesfull, try to restore the newest version of the database, instead of starting all over again. You can find the dump file of the database in the data folder of symantec backup exec (bedb.bak file).

Restore this file can be done with beutility.
