Maxtor Shared Storage II 1TB Drive backing up to Ultrium 3 in ML350 G3 Backup Exec 11d.

Maxtor Shared Storage II 1TB Shared networked to Proliant ML350 G3 file server installed with HP LTO Ultrium
3 400/800 GB tape drive connected via Ultra320 SCSI card. 

I want to back up the data on the Maxtor Shared Storage Drive to the Ultrium
tape drive.

I would like to utilise Backup Exec 11d for Windows Servers as the backup software.

Is this a feasible proposition?

Absolutely.

As long as the Media Server can access the data on the Maxtor disk, you can back it up. 

You will have to install Backup Exec on the file server so it can access the tape library.

Thank you for coming back Patty, quick question, exactly to what are you referring when you use the term "media server", Maxtor use a similar term when referring to mpeg storage.

The media server it the server that has Backup Exec installed on it.
