Hi Community,
I have Backup Exec 12.5 (currently no updates installed) running on Windows Server 2003 SP2. Among the Backup Jobs created, I have two Jobs for backing up my SQL-Servers:
- "SQL Logs" for backing up transaction logs
- "SQL Full" for running a nightly full backup of the SQL-Server databases including a physical verify
Both jobs are backup up into a B2D-Device which resides on a NAS devive on the network. However, the "SQL Full" and "SQL Logs" job are using different media sets.
My problem is, that the "SQL Full" job is never ending, I always have to cancel it, since there are problems with the verify (the actual backup works), which leads to the following error message:
Media mount failed.
User canceled a Physical Volume Library operation.
V-79-57344-33861 - The media operation was terminated by the user.
I tried to run the job with the option to append media as well as to overwrite them and deselected the media set's option to always allocate the maximum space for the B2D files, however this does not seem to make any differnces.
Any hint to solve this issue would be highly appreciated.

Not sure on this but since it hangs on verify of sql maybe the job cannot verify some of the databases due to corruption. Maybe try a repair of sql?

No, I'd try a repair of your Backup Exec DB first using beutility.exe. It could be that your job is faulty, and if you can run a manual job successfully, you might need to recreate your policy/job.
Make sure you're not using Advanced Open File Option. Symantec don't recommend this when backing up SQL. When you do, you cannot redirect restores of SQL to another server.
Under Tools --> Options --> Microsoft SQL, check to see if "Consistency check after backup" is set to none. If not, select it and see if your backup runs. This means that after your back completes, Backup Exec will not run a consistency check on your DBs.

Lastly, do you have enough space to do your backups to that disk?

Hi CraigV,
Thank you very much fpr your advises. So far repairing the BE Database and creating a new job have turned up nothing. I verified that AOFO and consistency check after backup are turned of. But the erro persists.
I'll try checking the SQL server's databases.
