Problem cataloging and restoring from tape

I was forced to reformat/reinstall backup exec about 3 weks ago. I installed a fresh copy of BE 12 SP4, then copied my old catalogs from the old server to the new install.

I need to do a restore from tape. These tapes were written 2 months ago. I put in all the tapes in the backup set, and try to do the restore, I get these errors:

A backup set was created which contains no data. See the job log for details.
V-79-57344-33029 - Unable to acquire device for the specified pool and media

I also get errors when trying to import or catalog this media. What is the proper way for me to restore data from these tapes?

 Inventory the tapes, can you see them in BE as media?
Then do a catalog job on at least one tape.
Can you now browse the contents of the one tape from the restore window?
