Ready; Invalid target error

Recently, my daily backups were consistently failing with errors like "Media Mount failed".  Upon further research, I noticed some threads that suggested stopping BackupExec services, delete the device, restart BackupExec services, and let BE rediscover the device.  After following the directions, all my backup jobs started running smoothly again EXCEPT the "Inventory" job.  The Inventory job is scheduled to run every evening just before my backup jobs begin.  It does not prevent the backup jobs from running, but it does say "Ready; Invalid target" in the job status.  If I go to the properties of the job and click Submit, it comes back with a job status of "Ready" as it normally would, but if I attempt to run the job, it generates the error again.  Any idea on what is occurring?  I do not see any posts that address this problem.
